State police were conducting a detail with Allentown police from June 18 to June 19 when the incident occurred, authorities said.
Troopers were stopped at a traffic light along Chew Street just after 1 a.m. on June 19 when they spotted a male driver in a black 2015 Nissan Altima traveling through a stop sign along Fourth Street, state police said.
The driver then turned onto Chew Street and into the Sacred Heart Hospital emergency department drop-off.
When troopers turned on their emergency lights and sirens, the driver failed to stop, and took off speeding, state police said.
A high-speed pursuit followed, with the car traveling in the wrong direction down Penn Street, where the driver struck nine parked cars, authorities said.
The car stopped at Penn Street and Allen Street before the driver fled from the scene, state police said.
The suspect is described by state police as a Black man in his late 20s to early 30s.
